I've been playing Eliza recently. It's good obviously, but for me as author is interesting to see the differences of a visual novel more aimed at the general audience vs the "usual audience". There are several differences I noticed:

art style: I like it (after all, I made a game with painted style art too, PSCD) but for example it's something that in a traditional VN/dating sim would be a negative point in general, since people playing those games are obsessed with anime art

voice acting: while some big VNs have that, most don't. Might also be because VNs usually have a lot more texts (which is not necessarily a good thing). I like voice acting even if I think is more common in adventure games?

lastly I liked the interaction with the world, clicking on objects to examine it, the phone, etc. It has been done even in VNs but I think not as good as in that game! All those things might seem small things but make a difference from a niche/mainstream VN IMHO
