amazing how many people in percentage are having issues with downloading a zip and running the game from it. Most don't know how to unzip properly or have antivirus that delete the .exes and so on!

Which is why there are installers, and that's how games used to be distributed (and still are, on GoG) In my case, it's people forgetting to install DirectX - so I pack it up with the installer.

do you codesign all the installers? otherwise Smartscreen will prevent them from working at all, if antivirus don't delete the exe before :P

To be fair most people either buy from Steam or GOG (and no problem for exe files there) And I believe most people who buy from http://itch.io have enough experience to bypass these.

yes any system using a client to launch the game works fine (since all the efforts need to be done by the launcher, being codesigned, whitelisted by virus, etc)
