Ehh not having voices gives the user creative freedom to imagine vocal tones and accents unless an accent has been stated. Prefer that when it comes to games like yours.

yes you're not the first person telling me this. In any case with such long games voicing is out of question lol. At best voicing only some cutscenes (but even that would be hard because you can play as male or female protagonist)

Also, I read about a few magnitudes faster than a voice would speak the same thing, so it’s usually the first thing I turn off...

Yeah, maybe if you were like a large company, but I'm pretty sure you still count as indie level (hope that doesn't sound offensive). Even I am only intending to have certain lines voiced in my games and I'm less dialogue focused. (Still trying to convince someone to voice them).

no offense, I'm definitely still indie level! Adding voices wouldn't be impossible but would mean delaying the release of at least 3-4 months just to make sure everything is OK

It blows my mind that something the length of "Steins;Gate" is fully voiced dialog because of the sheer length of it...
-
yes it's an insane effort!

For smaller games, considering your track record, you can easily pull it off even w/battle voices only. Just dip your toes in and realize not only they can give life to your characters, they can also help you promote. Not everyone has the imagination for character voices too.
-
and like, your style isn't even mainly anime, which makes more sense to have English voice acting.
