I was about to buy some 3d software and models after watching some realtime great 3d videos but then I rememebered that getting one model/scene to look awesome is "easy", having a full game with consistent 3d art is "slightly" more difficult and out of any indie budget I think

That would be the benefit of such. Requires more work unless keep it anime style versus real style too.

yes but doing 3D anime is even harder I think, I have seen it done well in only a few games. Maybe I'm just too picky :P

it's really hard to make a 3d game with consistent style. I prefer hand drawn too, the main appeal of 3d to me is the possibility of play it like a movie, animations, camer angles etc
