so yesterday hit my record-low of daily sales on Steam since 2014
though I think it's a combo of period of the year, lot of great games coming out, subscriptions and that none of my RPGs were on a weeklong sale

basically pure VNs like otomes are dead on Steam IMHO (mobile would be better). If you make a VN it must be erotic to have any hope of making some money on PC. Or you just do RPGs that earn 10 times minimum lol (this is all based on my own experience of course!)

Ouch. Although to be honest, I'm not surprised, I feel like that's the general problem of over-saturation that has been running for a while now. It likely doesn't help that there are "meme-games" that pretty much eat into the limelight (we've had this conversation before?)

yes could be, but in general it's that there are too many bad games but also too many good games :D And for VNs I have the feeling that most users moved to mobile, while on PC there are only those looking for adult games that you can't find on mobile due to censorships

That's true too. Honestly reading this reminds me of how a lot of major VN companies in Japan have pretty moved on to just make gacha games (eg. FGO and whatever that weird Muv-Luv gacha game was made a while back that I believe closed down).
