I already pay the $99/year for iOS, and Mac is 5-6% of my sales so financially would be worth it for me to notarize apps but I still won't do it. It's the first step towards a fully controlled / closed system. Next step? they don't approve apps they don't like? no thanks!
yes but I'm not using mac appstore at all, I don't want yet another appstore to mantain, too much work for too little

Yes, it's gotten worse over time - and could be headed for catastrophe with Catalina's 64-bit only stipulation - there are so many older games / PC ports that will simply die on the Mac when MacOS simply forbids them from running.
