I just realized something that's not good for my kind of games:
1) localization has become very important
2) translation costs are high (if you want good results)
3) games with a lot of wordcount = very expensive
4) visual novels are a bad genre choice right now

Indeed. This is mainly true for third person passages that include any sort of pronouns and in some languages adjectives. As such, may require additional strings. Also length of the language needs to be considered for displaying the text correctly.

It can be done, but it's better when it's considered at the beginning and not retrovitted to existing games. I can see that becoming messy.
