a game's success is really hard to define because changes based on team size, expectation, current market state, development time and more.

An indie could make a game all on his own in 1 year and earn $50k/year and would be more successful than a team of 4-5 earning $1M but taking 3 years of development time, with an office, salaries, expenses, etc

it depends, mine was just an example. In general nowadays is super hard to break even no matter if you're alone or in a team...
