one thing I notice now that I'm gaming a bit more again is that I don't really seem to have the attention span for long sessions? Like I play a short while and stop. I dunno what's up with that and I'm not sure I like it
it's 101% scientific!! When was 20 years old: RPG, strategy, wargames, etc. Now I'm halfway to 50 and all I want to play are dumb FPS, narrative games (but without much text) and so on

That is the strangest way to describe 25 years old.

it might simply be specific to my case but talking with other indies they have similar experiences. Maybe at 25 years we had more free time or simply different tastes?

I still have patience for long RPGs or games that require plenty of skill or number churning, but only if I can get into them fast. Recently tried Europa Universalis IV and couldn't even pass the tutorial. 15 years ago I would be THRILLED at that level of complexity.

Funnily enough, I also play way less short/artsy indie games nowadays. It's just that if I'm going to commit to a new game, I'd rather get more time out of it.
