Note that I'm not directly involved with console ports of Ren'Py. (In addition to ratlaika's port, there are several open ports to switch homebrew). Ren'Py's open source license means people can do this sort of thing without me.

It would be great if there would be a way to port Ren'Py games to consoles some day. There is a definite lack of visual novels on consoles and I think that if an open and well documented tool like Ren'Py was able to do this in some way (maybe import to unity ?) it would be great.

I think that's kind of what this is - they are able to run Ren'Py on the three major consoles.

Yep that makes sense. You'd think they'd be nice enough to give you a heads up that they got something like this working properly and if you wanted to give it a look if it was worth finetuning and adding to the Ren'Py base as an export option. Exporting to Unity sounds great.

At the moment our solution doesnt import to Unity or anything like that, it's Renpy&python running on consoles like it does on PC, should work for any game. We're still polishing stuff here & there. The problem with adding to this as export option is the console NDAs & licenses

good job, the only one actually worth for small/medium indies is probably the Switch. From what I know by talking with other indies, PS4 and Xbox are a pain (certification) and doesn't yield good revenues

We make more $ on PS4/Vita/Xbox than Switch on ~60% of our titles hehe

ah interesting. As usual it's hard to know the real stats because they vary from dev to dev!
