revolutionary idea: Steam takes 10% instead of 30% for the first $50k on each game. Savings: 10k each game. For AAA companies? Irrelevant. For Steam? Maybe not irrelevant but how many games go past $50k? For small indies (99% of developers): life-changing 👍#indiedev #gamedev

Hey BRO @pcmacgames, you better give where credit is due. I literally just replied to you with this idea of a brackets system and you go and don't reply, don't like, rather go and suggest it as your own? :/

it's not something new, indie devs have been discussing this sort of thing for years (privately and publicly). If you want to say that is your idea, fine by me

Alright, just kind of vexed, you could have at least replied to my comment yesterday you know, I'd been preparing a draft of this exact post to put somewhere else. :/

the fun thing is - Valve could SUPER EASILY afford to say "all games up to 100k gross revenues will pay 15%". It would literally mean saving thousands of small devs from starving to being able to continue doing what they love. They would be considered the good guys for sure 👍

Yes agreed this has been discussed for *years* even BEFORE last year when Valve introduced lower % for high grossing games and Epic announced 12% etc. It's not a new idea.

I'm sure, I was just annoyed because I had talked about it here yesterday with no reply:https://twitter.com/nicholasn5/status/1130140019270623233 …

Ah well see @pcmacgames, I actually do agree with you. I'm an up-and-coming developer myself and though I haven't sold anything yet, I think that Valve should have brackets at least if they are worried about profits. Go for something like 15%, 25%, 30%... I'm not an economist. 🤔
