that...is actually a very good idea. this could be scaled steam share/copies 1% 100 copies[would have to be a big niche] 5% 1000 copies 10% 10k copies 20% 100k copies 30% 1M copies

I am so angry right now
@pcmacgames, this was my idea. I just replied with the idea of a brackets system yesterday and I'd had it written down in my notes for a long time as a suggestion I was going to make directly to Valve. Not directed at you@PomstaZLesa

I hope at some point steam won't be the platform to choose and they will be forced to do 0% for small income games to stay attractive and maybe give optional 10 - 30% for some extra benefits like featuring, achievements, cards or whatever.

Here's the thing -- they could take 50% on a game and we'd still have to play ball. There is no alternative for a commercially viable indie.
-
That's not true, it would completely invalidate corporate trust. Only the BIGGEST game companies might end up playing ball but indies? That kind of royalty would be obscene.

10% to $100K would be nicer. Or fuck it, 0%. Then 10%. Then 30% at 1M if they still want to do that.

They can trial this on my next game and I'll report how it goes.

I think there would be A LOT of volunteers for that

Didn't Steam introduce the exact opposite system, where top selling games lose a smaller cut to Steam?
