I think you could get rid of grinding altogether in the future. I know there are RPG fans who love grinding but it doesn't work so well in narrative games.

I think is fine if it's optional in Easy/Normal difficulty, also many people like it when playing in Hard/Nightmare. I think in my two latest RPGs (Queen Of Thieves and Cursed Lands) was too much indeed, but for example in SOTW people liked it :)
