PRO TIP: When working on 2D games, keep source assets in at least 2x the size they appear in game, even if you go for a fixed resolution. The only reason I was able to easily update Bonfire to fullHD is because all the artwork we had was 4x the target size.

and leave significant "error margins" both above/below and to the sides that can be cut off without making the images unusable - who knows which weird ass aspect ratios people will have in the future? In the 00s there were lots of 4:3 and (LCD)5:4 screens, these days 21:9 o_O
