I wanted to look at #GodotEngine which seem really cool and GDscript is basically python which is awesome, but maybe because I'm getting old, I find adapting to a new engine is... ugh, an insane effort (when in reality it isn't)

Ah, ok. It’s not too hard to do 2d in Godot. You need to get used a bit to the node system. GDScript is easy to learn and very compact (compared to Unity C# for ex). Also, lots of functionality without coding. =)

cool, but for doing VNs I would still use Ren'Py. I was thinking to use that if I wanted to do some more experimental games with more action on screen (arcade, tower defense, etc)
