I think devs are a bit too much obsessed by Steam reviews. I just checked some games of devs friends who I know for certain are rich, and there was many mixed review ratings. More than the rating, is the review counts that matters #indiedev
but it would be interesting if there was any sort of global stat measuring the path of games that didn't start with positive review score indeed. Not sure exactly how big is the impact

Yeah, I thought you were saying that review count is more important than review score in terms of generating sales. That I'd dispute. In terms of indicating success, ofc review count is supreme since it's directly proportional to sales.

I see, indeed I am not sure if with a lower initial score they would have still got so many. The only one I can think about is No Man's Sky but definitely not a "normal" small budget indie game :D
