there's that poll/survey done by @larsiusprime , before 2015-16 or something most devs agreed Steam was earning their 30%. For the last two years instead, most devs agree they're not. So it's not just "a few devs" :P
and if that's true, these developers will stop releasing games on Steam, and not just because another party like Epic gave them a bag of money. This would be competition in action.
it's very possible - right now Epic store is very curated. When they "open up more" (I think that's the plan) things might get interesting! And Epic giving a bag of money is probably to mitigate the risk for the dev of using a NEW platform exclusively "blindly" :)
