It’s clear from a massive thread that I got involved in that consumers have no idea that an exclusive means the dev usually gets MONEY and good store placement. To devs this can be a lifeline that means they survive. They aren’t trying to be horrible.

Nor are devs with exclusive deals bad at business (which armchair experts seem to think). Lucky devs can choose: 1) Sell on big store but maybe get screwed by the algo. 2) Get big upfront $ now and live to fight another day. In many cases no. 1) is the bad decision.

the thing in this Epic case is even more ridiculous because it's not a $300+ console to buy, just a simple other installer file to download for your PC. 10 minutes, done. No extra hassle. You don't need to buy another device to play the exclusive...

It's not completely ridiculous - I have Steam, GOG, and Origin clients on my PC already. I *really* don't want to fracture my digitial game library any more than it already is. For instance, number of UPlay games I own is zero.

Pfuit I have Uplay, Bethesda launcher and Blizzard! :P Well I am sure many USERS don't like it, but it's not a matter of what users like at this point...

Sure - and I don't resent Metro choosing Epic's store, or that the store exists - but unfortunately, despite very much liking the previous games, it's unlikely I'll be getting the new one. I installed Origin through gritted teeth :D

well of course depends on the "motivation" :) and that's exactly what's going to happen in the next years, the various stores trying to push exclusive games to attract customers to their platform. If Steam took 9% flat fee for EVERYONE, nobody would have reason to move IMHO

for example I installed the GoG thing for Witcher3, but after that I've uninstalled it, when I discovered their games were also available on Steam
