I know the answer of 90% of my fans/followers but was wondering, what do you think of using pre-rendered 3d character art in a game? and if that meant much more art in general?

Depends on the quality. Even something like Goblin Slayer is catching flak for its 3D models not always being up to par and that's a big hit anime. I think you'd have to do it carefully and ensure that you don't compromise the quality.

Hm, I see. This might sound silly, but couldn't you go with anime-style models? I feel like the potential issue might not be moving from 2D to 3D but moving from anime style to a realistic style. At least at first.

yes but anime-styled models look really ugly in my opinion :P I haven't seen any good looking ones, they seem... not sure how to say, lifeless?

Good ones might exist? I'd say look at popular 3D games with an anime aesthetic and see if anything comes close to an improvement in quality. It could just be that you haven't found the right style yet.

yes, anyway I'll stick with hand drawn art for a loong time (have art ready for 3-4 games :P)
