Honestly one of the worst traps you can fall into as a game developer is the sunk costs fallacy. If you don’t have contractual obligations it’s never too late to back away from a project you don’t believe in anymore

tbh I think one of the most valuable skills you can HAVE as a dev is to know the difference between when you’re lacking self-confidence and need to just keep going, and when your gut is telling you you’re chasing an idea that isn’t going to work out.

I’ve spent a LOT of time in my not-even-that-long career falling into that trap and have dropped way more projects than I’ve finished—sometimes even after publicizing them. It’s important to know how to do that!

uh you dropped projects? I didn't know that! I've cancelled a game last year and I would do it again for sure, lost my faith in it completely
