Your description confuses me. The thing about blueprints is that you can use them to make many copies of the same item. Is this unlocking a new recipe, or is this just another kind of random loot?

so in a way yes it's another version of random loot, except that you need also resources to craft the item (but the item will always have high quality)

In that case I think you need to find another way to describe/frame it other than crafting, because you'll confuse player expectations. I'd feel a little ripped-off at a "crafting" system that works the way you describe, it feels unfair. But with a different framing...

(completely random example NOT a real suggestion) like, if instead of collecting 'blueprints' you collected 'raffle tickets' that said "To redeem your amazing blaster prize, please deposit this ticket and 10 Cobalt Ore at your local McSpacy's!"

Same in-game effect (loot token plus resources = cool weapon) but it's not described as crafting and therefore doesn't raise all the expectations of how a crafting system works.

yes good point, I called it crafting because you needed the "blueprint/token" plus resources but I think should find a different naming for this kind of thing :)
