many devs I respect (@TomGrochowiak, @christinelove, @HanakoGames, etc ) are NOT making a VN as their next game. Wondering if the time of regular non-porn/fanservice VN is coming to an end (not viable anymore commercially) ?

(1/2) This is rough to say but Christine, who pioneered getting EVNs on Steam, now has to compete on that platform with VNs from teams with better artwork, writing and even better gimmicks (DDLC, I'm looking at you). LKiaB was not well received critically.

I’m just personally interested in trying new storytelling techniques and telling stories that I couldn’t in VNs. I’ve been making them for most of my adult life—I don’t wanna fall into a rut, even if it would be safe

honestly I think any game you'll make will be a success :P But I understand completely, of the next games I'm releasing I'm personally involved only in the RPGs, and I want to try other stuff, games similar to
@HanakoGames or@KitfoxGames (Shrouded Isles for example)
