It may sound dumb, but I'm stuck for an unreasonable amount of time with an important prototype, because I can't figure out damage calculation mechanic that meets all my goals for the design. That's game development for you.

I want so many things of this design! I want it to be super-simple, so that battles are almost a puzzle game. But also just complex enough for strategy variety. But I also want to roll actual dice. But don't want randomness. And so on. :D
