It's really not the same. Just a series of chat rooms and voice channels organised under one server owner. Good for real time feedback but it's not a forum. No separate threads. Slack does support threading but the free version Slack doesn't archive messages beyond 1000.

well I don't need it free (as long as it's not something that costs $50/month or more :P) the important would be to have a forum I don't have to keep updated

I am pretty sure they are not really interchangable, especially considering that you have so many games and series in your portfolio that have their own fans.

I'd say using both is a better solution considering one can be used for archival and more continuous discussions and Discord can be more for quick support and chat. ;P
