Yes, it's awful that the police would find it necessary to tweet about a private company not seeking police action on an incident that involved *their own* personal property. If the store wants to give away all their mdse, why should police be involved?

They aren’t giving it away. They will file a hefty insurance claim.

I don't see the insurance company paying out - I mean, the police report will have to include the fact that they explicitly forbade law enforcement from doing their job.

None of you have any clue what you're talking about. If the store floods, all the inventory is scrapped. Folks still need the stuff in there, even though the store can't legally sell it

That store was not about to flood.

The store was closed in the middle of the day.....because of flooding

Agree. Don’t approve of stealing but know it is a dire situation for many. TG for dollar stores! Admire that @myfamilydollar chose to de-escalate this. I am sure these folk’s will #payitforward #Florence

Not evil, I have lived in Wilmington all of my life and am currently in the same “desperate” situation, except I I’m in an area that is flooded... still does not give me the right to be a criminal and to steal from others who are also in the same situation

I’m in their shoes and standing in water that’s flooded my neighborhood...I live in Castle Hayne which is blocked off and flooded. It’s still not right
