sleeping is not a crime! as per the 8th amendment, it would be unconstitutional to prohibit people from sleeping which is a totally natural thing to do. Our city needs to reflect this in removing police from interacting with our houseless neighbors.

“as long as there is no option of sleeping indoors, the government cannot criminalize indigent, homeless people for sleeping outdoors, on public property, on the false premise they had a choice in the matter.”

I think it would be great to implement that 8th amendment thing you were talking about. 8 hours of sleep at night on the sidewalk, but no permanent tent camps, no bike chopping, no fent/meth. Or we can just do as Oakland did and create go/no go zones for camping.

is this the first time you've ever heard of the 8th amendment, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that amendment tells us what we "cannot" do to people it says nothing about what we "can" do.

For example, the SF sit-lie ordinance complies with those 8th amendment court cases.
