it's so much more than that sir. It's a "charity" that advocates using ECT. I mean, seriously. How does that help anyone?

What is ECT?? (I seriously don't know & would like to)
-
ECT stands for Electro-Convulsive Therapy. It is what it sounds like - electrocution in hopes of "fixing". It's shock treatment.
-
they use ECT to treat people suffering depression. There's no medical proof it works w/autism.

All this because you tried to support a charity and put a little kindness and decency in the world...
-
As I understood it, the charity had some ideas regarding autism that were objectionable to a lot of people.
-
As I understand it, someone who didn't need to be, was trying to be supportive and do a good thing. And grief and negativity followed.
-
Those people weren't right.even if the charity Mr. Shatner supported might not have been the right one out of many , according to them.
-
That's my point. And all Mr Shatner did was change his pic and hash tagged world autism day.

Interesting, they blocked me. I wonder if they pre-blocked me for thought crimes or what?
-
I'm blocked too but didn't check before I RTd OP so idk if result of RT or a block list user.
-
Definitely a blocklist user. Probably GG autoblocker.
-
Gotta love people who refuse to talk to others based on who they follow, that's just...wow

That's really not the only reason they're bad, though. Are you open to hearing other reasons?
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. Undo -

I appreciate you trying to raise awareness though, but there are far better autism organisations/charities to associate with.

Using my
#ActuallyAutistic powers I see she said they're no good because they "spent years...demonizing autistic people". -
And if you'd followed the link she provided you would've found things such as thishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UgLnWJFGHQ …

They are made up of a bunch of parents who can't deal with their chuldren being different.
@WilliamShatner -
they may not be a good organization but they are made up of parents who want their kids to have a better life.
-
Most parents do want a better life for their kuds, agreed. As long as "better" doesn't mean squeeze in a mold.
