    I still maintain that MUPPETS FROM SPACE is the first Muppet film to depict the Muppets in their real lives. All the others up to that point have introductions that explains the proceeding stories as fictionalized versions of their lives.

    You’re basically thinking of “vertical integration,” a system by which a studio controls every aspect of production, including the distribution of their movies through their own outlets. It was struck down by the Supreme Court in 1948. BTW, Disney+ is launching in November.

    Just a thought: How feasible is it at some point they could go "Avengers 6: Ending Again... only on the Disney Streaming Network. Subscribe today." Because THAT is what the Hollywood system needs to fear, a "creator-as-distributor-as-consumer outlet" megaplex.

    How many years ago was TIVO? I reject this argument in the age of time-shifting. We all do it. It's changed the landscape of how we digest TV. Except when people want to spoil every single second of something. Because then it's "communal."

    TV is very different from movies. Everyone knows when a TV show airs.

    I don't get the "don't criticise unless you've made something yourself" argument, because even if that were a rubric a lot of us have made, or are in the process of making something. There are many truly great movies made by former critics, and there will be more.
