seems clear that the central project of the post religious west is a complete denial of death. sending the elderly away, plastic surgery, health food, eternal teenage infantilism— all of it in service of denying that death could possibly come to our lives

Religions are obsessed with death.. how could anyone make an argument against that? "Yeah, well.. they believe in an afterlife" So? It doesn't matter if they have the answer right or wrong, they're still looking at death constantly regardless of the comfort they get from faith.

religions that absolve one of sin with a donation in order to get to a promised afterlife is better? Sins that cause death and destruction of the ecosystem that sustains life? Sins of exterminating indigenous people? In this context religion is used as propaganda for theft.
