Empathetically, I think they’re going for the “Teen Mom” effect where showing that these outcomes that feel distant but can still occur to the 50%+ of Americans not fully vaccinated can hopefully spur action before D and G mess things up

Yes. And it’s even more jarring living in the South while being in “progressive” circles online. I saw it too with the Texas power outages. If ppl understood how fundamentally different ppl’s relationship with gov’t and healthcare is here, there would be so much more empathy.
