Do you not think the man makes a valid point (language models are beneficial in accordance to the degree of boilerplate-y-ness of the code to be programmed, and our tooling can contribute to norms that increase this tendency to boilerplate-y-ness, which is a means of stagnation)?
abstraction is useful and probably shouldn’t be taken as a lack of originality. Languages exist for a reason, and we are just moving up the stack from less complex to more complex primitives

You have it backwards: if a program in essence "doesn't exist yet" on GitHub (because original, not "less abstract"), Copilot won't make it. It's regurgitating its training set (which is not composition over all language, you're refuting your own straw man in 2nd ½ of this tweet)
