why would numerai work when: - there's inherent tension between the quality of the data and the need to obfuscate it (which the hedge funds don't) - the best algorithmic traders are getting carry at a hedge fund somewhere
probably foolish to think that there aren’t great quants in the world that can’t get hired by citadel for any number of reasons including experience that you can arb

of the two points (1) is the stronger one. I agree there may be quite good quants left out on the margins

- dont need the best data to find trading opportunities - certainly dont need to the best minds to make $$ lots of things are fine and effective even if suboptimal
