Convincing others of an idea based on its merit is definitely doing a good job but when I see “politics” I think manipulation (the bad kind). Could just be semantics though.
I think people meaningfully conflate “office politics” and “working at a toxic company” The later is big bad, the former gets written off as the later in ways that are spooky.
