I think this is true with respect to research about the company, but I think it does take at least a few meetings (especially if it’s virtual) for investors and founders to develop mutual trust with each other.

And still- The motivation for a deep DD for seed stage startups, has to do with "the day after" process, within the VC, in case failure. A day after a Startup fails, the investors check whether their 'risk management' process was done thoroughly before the investment was made

It is called CYA. But seriously most startups fail for many reasons. Lack of PMF. No growth hacking strategy/implementation. No plan. Team and/or execution problems. Attempting to de-risk these factors during DD is often futile.
