      Yup. Available cheaply used, low upkeep, easy to launch and sail with 1-2 people. There are regattas all over if you want to sail them competitively, but I think it’s more fun to just get on it and go.

      I had a yellow Hobie 14 almost exactly like the one in the picture, from birth (!) until three years ago. I sold it when I moved away from Florida, and now I wish I could have it back.

      A hobie is perhaps the only exception to the never own your own boat rule of thumb. Find a local club with a managed fleet it’s shockingly cheap

          I'm with Will and Patrick: Sailing. You can go hobie / other dinghies. You can also get a keelboat and do Wednesday beer can races with the local club. Depends on the level of comfort and competitiveness you're looking for. More upkeep with a keelboat but not as bad as you think
