to be fair, Twitter has completely destroyed the follow experience by surfacing likes.. what someone tweets and what they like can be completely different, which makes it hard to tailor your feed to specific topics

It seems that a voluntary system could evolve where participants add a digital certificate to their account. They would lose anonymity but gain credibility. Tweets without digital signatures would still be permitted but would be viewed as such. No?
