    have been sitting in a lot of hiring conversations and it’s remarkable how persistent the character of thought that institutions install are— no matter how much one rejects the specific ideas taught. ex: 99% of MIT students think in similar ways, even if the outcomes vary

        Is this MIT-specific, or top-tier STEM-specific, or top-tier uni specific (i.e. is there a prototypical MIT student vs Yale student)

        I think its true across most institutions, MIT just fit in the char limit. I.e. I think the ways that I think are 99% determined by 14 years of quaker school, and dramatically less formed by two years of mediocre engineering ed

        Its mostly a character of thought thing, less so framework or specific ideas. Hard to describe other than high structural resonance

        The act of simply *applying* for a hiring position automatically selects out of kinds/types of people who act like smart creatives, but MIT def attracts some subgroups of smart creatives who cluster around each other who couldn't be found anywhere else
