If @elonmusk would guarantee Starlink Africa coverage by 2025 and promise I could use it (i dont even need exclusivity), i would start building an African telco Rn.

Have thought a lot about this— very clear raising the capital (conservatively two-three) is pretty trivial, lots of South Asian money in particular for this kind of project. I’m not sure what the blocker is, if I wasn’t working on something I adore, I would be leaping at it

Imo The blocker to 95% 5g coverage is its a much more expensive project if you have to lay lots of fiber and built out non-centralized 5g backhaul infrastructure

You also have some political risk. African countries aren't known for their stability and I'm assuming telcos have to deal with a lot of regulation. China has a lot of influence there too, so that may bring some risks of its own in ~10 yrs. Likely manageable risks though though

Is Starlink going to be available to third-party commercial resellers? Depending on access, would be pretty simple to bulk procure Ubiquitis and mesh with Starlink terminals.
