am now convicted that longevity as a field is entirely stagnated not because of fundamental science, but because 50% of the field are vitamin grifters, and 45% charlatans. It’s a shame such a promising field is riddled by its inability to build competence based institutions

Reminds me of Newton’s alchemical and zany Bible interpretation interests. Really innovative people are high variance and we should allow that while not worshipping every idea that comes from them merely because of their successes.
