Plotters and 3-D printers, while awesome, have cost us the craft of the scale modeler, sign painter, and trained draftsman. Probably a fair trade on balance, but there is a loss.
The weird second order effect of this is its almost impossible to even find draftsman training today. Really wanted to try to take some night classes to more easily copy sol lewitt’s instructions, but nope, not a single class

Yeah, there are some skills that have died off entirely. When I was a teen I'd got to this massive art supply store in Woburn, and there'd be all these bizarre blue-collar art tool. Specialty paints for sign painting, an infinite variety of drafting templates – a different world.
