God it sucks so bad to be a lawyer, guys take 15 minutes to reply to an email and are like "Sincere apologies for the delay I was at a funeral
It must be so frustrating to work your way up for so long and still not have time-worked/income leverage. No matter what you do, your income will be a direct function of hours work.

Most biglaw partners nowadays are income partners rather than equity partners, so their pay is still linked to hours. Partners in general tend to have less work-life balance than associates IMHO.
