Remember when Uber added an option where you could choose if you wanted to chat with your driver or not? Zoom needs to add that but for letting the other person know you don't want to be on video.

@mark_rosner best idea here: get on video for 1-2 min to introduce self / put a name to a face, and then everyone turn off video.
My profile photo on zoom is Gritty with “momento mori” written over it in papyrus, and I refuse to change it or turn my video on
