I don’t think we talk enough about how funding the future has been suddly changed to mean “funding hard tech” there’s a nuance there, and the chance of living in a world meaningfully different from ours today hangs in it

tagging onto this my eternal “I will blanket fund whoever is working on x” comment if: it pains me we don’t have a 5-15m funded team working to computationally sieve the true name of god. It’s literally a better return profile than most darpa grants

the niche online serial unsong hangs on this, but I also think it’s fascinating as an algo problem. Had like 70% of the work for a paper on efficient sieves for finding pronounceable Aramaic but god knows where it ended up
