The real lesson of the bubble is that there are too many NBA teams relative to the amount of available talent.
The real problem is the league allows bad owners to be the norm. Any novel off-court strategy (see: the process) is vilified to such a degree that franchises are turned into passive assets rather than things of legitimate interest themselves. Fix this, fix the league.

I think the market allows it, not the league. A small market team with a bad owner doesn’t last very long because bad teams in small markets don’t make money. Big markets with inept ownership (hi, Knicks) can remain profitable even while committing mistake after mistake.
