also did the math on this a little bit ago. if you're looking for the full set new from HUP it's going to be $10k-ish that being said: brattle books seems to have a rotating selection of these used for $18-22 a piece which with patience could get you under 8-9k and also older

Yes my current strategy is to go down to Raven's Used Books and buy 1 or 2 from time to time when they have them. Perhaps my grandchildren will have a full set

I think I'm sitting at ~25 right now with repeats I've been trying to assemble a whole set of the Whole Earth Catalog, which is a whole other beast. No one agrees on what editions exist, other than a flash-based web archive of 'all of them' that seemingly no longer works
