Data may not be helpful at the seed stage, and I have data to support this.
I don't think data is overwhelmingly helpful for picking co's at any stage. I do think data on customer behavior/deal structure, esp in enterprise/f500 when we get this in relatively high fidelity, is incredible useful to portcos
The smartest team in economics and data science (multiple Nobel laureates) have built this, and seen market leading results at growth stage, but scrapped it for Seed. There are much less qualified teams doing this at Seed stage now. It will not end well for them.

Few companies start in F500 and early stages is often about finding product market fit through a series of small pivots. Not sure how valuable that data is at early stage.
