literally have had three discrete HSers email me this week asking /what is the best school to enroll in, to drop out of, to raise money/ life isn't just one big game to become a thoughtfluencer.

I will never understand the “dropping out of school” subgenre of self congratulatory medium post. this isn’t something to celebrate— land on your feet, do something exciting. Celebrating walking away from a privilege many will never have for the optics is never it.

yeah. if I could have stayed in high school I would have, I missed out on a lot. I'm no more proud of dropping out than I am with any of the other awful choices I've had to make. it is what you do after that counts.

I agree dropping out isn't success. But given the courage it takes to do it and the pressure faced by those who do, it makes sense some publicly announce. It's a huge scary deal to most just to escape, and sometimes costs them friends and family.
