even though my university is literally in the middle of nowhere(Rochester) with nothing to do, i do appreciate being able to focus on learning new things without distractions
there’s something to be said for this— deep springs does this really, really well by enforcing isolation. Seems like the real trouble is when the university is in the middle of being almost in the middle of no where, being then leaving is possible but takes hyper effort

I always thought it was torture going to SF for summers(tech intern life + california is unreal)and going back to rochester. it’s not that bad now that i’m seeing the benefit Yeah idk how people focus near/in cities

I feel that. Though it must be hard to get many teachers/educators in tech to willingly relocate tho ROC to teach which can have a difficult effect. We are lucky to have those that we do in NM
