crazy but super high-signal idea: "reject" every candidate (very graciously, of course) and see how they react before giving them an offer it's amazing how quickly people will reveal their true selves when they think they never have to interact with you again!
added some clarification, but not in the habit of deleting / revising history! I think this is a great opportunity for learning and constructive discussion and would rather push things in that direction.
