Black mirror has me thinking in the not too distant future we'll likely have entirely artificial pop stars (already close with lil maquela and the like) w/ artificially generated voices and algorithmically generated songs. This might already be a thing, not sure.
Vocaloids are already essentially this, and are huge in Japan.

Yeah! Was just reading about these. I assumed we were already there technologically but wasn't sure if there was like a break out computer generated pop star yet

Yeah I think music has a lot of elements to it (spiritual, story, etc), so don’t think computer generated songs will produce a star as we think about it But I think we will have more things like the Gorillaz where the avatar form factor says something about the artist behind it
